Terms & Conditions of Use

Last updated: 24 July 2026

These Terms govern your access to and use of the ReadOrion website and services. ReadOrion is operated from India and is made available to users worldwide. By using ReadOrion, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1About ReadOrion

ReadOrion (“we”, “us”, “the service”) provides short, AI-generated summaries of books in text and audio form, along with discovery features such as a catalog, streaks, and bookmarks. The service is currently free-first: a free plan lets you read a limited number of books each week. Paid plans are planned and will be introduced separately.

2Important disclaimer — AI-generated content

ReadOrion summaries are generated using AI, and the audio narration is also AI-generated. The content is a condensed interpretation intended to preview the key ideas of a book — it is not the original work, not a substitute for the full book, and not a definitive or authoritative account.

ReadOrion does not provide medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. Summaries are for general informational and educational purposes only. Always consult qualified professionals and refer to the original works for authoritative information. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any summary.

All rights in the source books remain with their respective authors and publishers. Where shown, purchase links (for example to Amazon or other retailers) are affiliate or referral links that may earn ReadOrion a commission at no extra cost to you, and they route you to the third-party retailer's own terms.

3Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old, or use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
  • You agree to provide accurate, truthful information when registering, and to keep your login credentials and one-time passcodes confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account. ReadOrion enforces a single active session per account for security.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.

4Your account data & verification

To register, we use your email address and a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to that address for verification. We also store your reading preferences and activity (such as books opened, streaks, and bookmarks) to provide the service. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5Free plan & weekly allowance

The free plan allows you to access up to 3 (three) books per week. Your weekly allowance resets every Sunday at midnight Indian Standard Time (IST, UTC+5:30). Re-reading a book you have already accessed within the same week does not consume an additional allowance; opening a new book in a new week consumes a fresh allowance. We may change the weekly limit or the reset schedule, and we will give reasonable notice before doing so.

6Paid plans, payments & refunds

Paid plans (for example, a Monthly and an Annual plan) are planned and will be introduced separately. When available, paid plans will auto-renew unless cancelled, will be billed in Indian Rupees (INR) or your local currency as displayed at checkout, and will be processed through a third-party payment provider (such as Razorpay). Taxes, where applicable, will be added at checkout.

Until paid plans are live, the only available plan is the free plan, which costs nothing and is non-refundable only in the sense that there is nothing to refund.

For paid plans, once live, you may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the current paid period. Refund eligibility is determined by the applicable payment provider's policy and by the consumer-protection laws of your country of residence. Where local law gives you a statutory right to a refund or withdrawal, that right is preserved.

7Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use bots, scripts, scrapers, or automated means to access, collect, or redistribute content from the service.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, redistribute, republish, or commercially exploit summaries, audio, or other content, or use content to build a competing product.
  • Share, sell, or transfer your account or access credentials.
  • Use the service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose, or in a way that could damage or impair the service.
  • Attempt to bypass the free-plan allowance, paywalls, or any access controls.

You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ReadOrion for your own non-commercial learning. All other rights are reserved.

8Intellectual property

The ReadOrion service, brand, software, and original site content are owned by ReadOrion or its licensors. Summaries and audio are AI-generated derivations offered to you under this limited license; the underlying books remain the property of their authors and publishers. Purchase links and author-program content are provided to connect readers with rights holders.

9Third-party links & content

ReadOrion links to third-party retailers (for example, Amazon) and may feature author-submitted information. We do not control these third parties, and their own terms, prices, availability, and privacy practices apply when you visit or buy from them. We are not responsible for third-party products, services, or content.

10Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies.

11Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReadOrion is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months, or a nominal sum, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable mandatory law (for example, liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct where local law does not permit such limitation).

12Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ReadOrion harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

13International use

ReadOrion is operated from India and made available globally. We make no representation that the service is lawful or appropriate in every jurisdiction. You are responsible for complying with local laws applicable to your use, including any export, import, or sanctions restrictions. If any term is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the remaining terms continue to apply.

14Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the “Last updated” date above and give reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. We will try to resolve disputes informally first. Any disputes that cannot be resolved will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

However, if you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection laws, nothing in these Terms deprives you of the rights you have under those mandatory laws, and you may bring proceedings in, and rely on the consumer protections of, your country of habitual residence.
